Water Challenges and Innovation: Business and Academia Knowledge Exchange Symposium (water@leeds + Nexus)
One-day Knowledge Exchange Symposium hosted by water@leeds and Nexus (University of Leeds).
- Designed to help address real-world water challenges faced by industry, the public and third sectors.
- We invite postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) with an interest in water research to attend this and share their expertise.
There is a vital need for collaborative innovation to address the rapid advancements and critical challenges in water management and this event will provide a platform for industry, public and third sectors and researchers to exchange knowledge, discuss needs, and explore new technologies and methodologies.
The Knowledge Exchange Symposium will provide a unique opportunity for ECRs and PGRs to apply their research to real-world water problems, potentially sparking ongoing collaborations and research partnerships, innovative projects and policy developments with leading industrial partners.
Multiple organisations will present their water challenges, and early career researchers will share their water specialisms. The event will include a mini hackathon, a collaborative problem-solving exercise where mixed teams of industry and ECRs/PGRs will tackle the water challenges posed by the water sector collaborators.
There is no expectation to solve the water challenges posed on the day, but this is an excellent opportunity for the next generation of water researchers at Leeds to engage with sectors outside of academia and gain insights into how research is applicable in real-world settings. This event will provide the opportunity to:
- Apply research to industrial challenges
- Translate research across multiple sectors and disciplines
- Explain research to non-experts
- Develop a new and highly original research idea
- Make industry connections
Confirmed Industry attendees:
- WSP Consulting
- Andel
- JBA Consulting
- Leeds City Council (West Yorkshire Flooding Innovation Programme)
