water@leeds is one of the largest interdisciplinary centres for water research in any university in the world, encompassing expertise from across the physical, biological, chemical, social and economic sciences and engineering as well as the arts.

The water@leeds team comprises 212 professionals from across the different departments and faculties of the University of Leeds, ensuring a cross-section of expertise and different disciplinary backgrounds.

water@leeds also has good links with industry and a track record of collaborative research and development, knowledge transfer and joint innovation. The central tenet of water@leeds is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding and hence solving major water issues.

The world’s grand challenges for water require interdisciplinary solutions and interdisciplinary working is a key feature of water@leeds, one of the largest centres for water research in any university in the world. We bring together expertise from across the physical, biological, chemical, social and economic sciences and engineering as well as the arts.

Our team works tirelessly and creatively in pursuit of our four key missions to develop novel ideas, utilise skills and techniques from across disciplines and deliver both blue skies and directly applied research.
