We are delighted to announce that Professor Lee Brown is joining the water@leeds executive team as Associate Director to lead on the mission of Next Generation.

Under Lee’s leadership we will deliver our commitment to train the next generation of water experts who will develop the knowledge, skills and interdisciplinary awareness to make a positive contribution to tackling water-related challenges.

On his new role, Professor Brown says:

In 2008 I led part of the water@leeds launch event and since then it has been a pleasure to see the centre grow. I am excited to bring my expertise and skills back to the director’s group to help water@leeds expand its position in the coming years.

He added, 'Directly related to the next generation mission, I led an EU funded Innovative Training Network for 15 PhD students from 2017-2022, placing Leeds at the heart of a 23 partner network of academics, businesses and regulators. One of my aims in the water@leeds AD role will be to share this expertise with Leeds colleagues.’

Directors Joseph Holden and Martin Tillotson say:

'We are delighted that Lee will be joining the leadership team for water@leeds. Lee brings excellent experience of interdisciplinary engagement and leadership and will facilitate the growth of our next generation activities as we tackle water challenges across a range of scales and with broad perspectives.'
