Online kick off meeting for the UoLeeds workshop: Enhancing Global Cooperation for Clean Water: Strategies to Manage Contaminants and Sustain Ecosystem Services.
In this meeting, Stuart Warner introduced progress made towards the implementation of SDG Indicator 6.3.2 and provided key insights into global water quality monitoring and assessment. This will provide an excellent background and set the scene for our workshop discussions on global water quality initiatives.
Stuart Warner short bio: Stuart works for UNEP's Global Environment Monitoring System for Freshwater (GEMS/Water). He leads UNEP’s work on SDG Indicator 6.3.2 and is co-lead of the World Water Quality Alliance Workstream for Citizen Science. He has been involved in the development and implementation of this SDG indicator since 2016 and is the lead author of the triennial progress reports. He previously worked for the GEMS/Water's Capacity Development Centre based at University College Cork, Ireland, where he was involved in delivering training in all aspects of water quality monitoring and assessment.
